Cell Culture Laboratory

Fully equipped Cell Culture Laboratory facilities at IBMBB provide access to conduct a wide range of cell-based research in the field of cancer biology, drug discovery, nanomedicines, synergistic studies on lead molecules, molecular cell biology, biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry. The Cell Culture Laboratory equipped with Type-II biosafety cabinets, humidified CO2 incubators, phase contrast and confocal inverted light microscopes with digital imaging system, fluorescence microscope, liquid nitrogen storage facilities for cryopreservation and maintenance of cell lines and UV-Visible-IR spectrophotometer. It also provided with a multi-plate reader to quantify biochemical reactions by colorimetric, fluorometric and luminescent assays, swing-type centrifuge, microcentrifuge, culture media and reagent storage facilities with refrigerators and water baths. The Cell Culture Laboratory maintains a depository of more than 35 animal cell lines including human, monkey, murine and rat in liquid nitrogen vessels following the standard protocols of the American type culture collections. Moreover, primary cell cultures are also deposited in-line with the research requirements. Currently, more than twelve research students are performing various scientific experiments for their PhD, MPhil and M.Sc. research.
