Post of Temporary Scientific Assistant (Bioinformatics) (On Contract-One Year)

The IBMBB will entertain applications from suitably qualified persons for the above post up to 27th July 2025.

0.1 Qualifications Required:

                          1. A First class or Second class (Upper Division) Degree in BSc in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Bioinformatics.   

                                                                                                                   OR

                          2. A Second Class (Lower Division) Degree in BSc in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Bioinformatics.   

                                                                                                                   OR

                          3. An Ordinary Pass in BSc Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Bioinformatics.   

                                                                                                                   OR

                          4. A Degree in BSC Biological Sciences with Postgraduate or Professional qualifications in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Bioinformatics.   

Note: 

                (a) An applicant who is eligible under (4) above, could be considered for appointment only if no applicant is qualified under (1) (2) or (3) above. 

                (b) An applicant who is eligible under (3) above, could be considered for appointment only if no applicant is qualified under (1) or (2) above.

                (c) An applicant who is eligible under (2) above, could be considered for appointment only if no applicant is qualified under (1) above.

Salary and Other Conditions of Appointment: 

U-AS 1 (I): Rs. 65,255 + Rs. 17,800 (COLA) 

Salaries will be paid as per the UGC Commission Circular 02/2025 (i) dated 04.04.2025

The selected candidate will be a member of the Employee Provident Fund as well as of the Employee Trust Fund. He/ She will contribute 8% of his/her monthly salary to the Employee Provident Fund and at the same time Institute will contribute 12% to the Employee Provident Fund. The Institute will make a contribution equivalent to 3% of his/her monthly salary to the Employee Trust Fund.

0.2 Required Skills

  1.  Excellent Knowledge in Programming (Preferable – Pearl, Python, HTML, PHP, Java)
  2.  Excellent Knowledge in Learning Management Systems installation and administration
  3.  Excellent Knowledge in Opensource Package and Environment Management Systems (Preferable –Conda, Anaconda)
  4.  Knowledge in Content Management system (Preferable – WordPress, Moodle)
  5.  Knowledge in Databases (MySql, MariaDB)
  6.  Knowledge in installation and command line of Linux operating system
  7.  Knowledge in Document Management System (DMS) installation and administration.
  8.  Knowledge in installation and development of Bioinformatics infrastructure and applications 
  9.  Knowledge in Google Development Environment and API
  10.  Basic Knowledge in Computer Hardware Trouble Shooting
  11.  Basic Knowledge in MS Teams, Google Workspace
  12.  Basic Knowledge in Windows Client Operating Systems (Windows, Mac OS) 
  13.  English Language proficiency

0.3 Duties

  1.  Administration and updating LMS.
  2.  Formatting online examinations and assignments on the LMS.
  3.  Assisting the coordination of Bioinformatics Programme; Coordinating with UCSC, Department of Plant Science and Department of Statistics to prepare schedules, arranging meetings of   the MSc in Bioinformatics programme etc.
  4.  Preparing computer lab for practical sessions and examinations of the MSc In Bioinformatics Programme.
  5.  Organizing, arranging and conducting workshops and internship programmes.
  6.  Assisting research projects of students.
  7.  DMS maintenance and administration
